A researcher in environmental science and engineering with a strong interest in administration and management studies, Professor Anagboso teaches and supervises students at undergraduate, Master’s and PhD levels in Research Methodology, Microbial Ecology, Environmental and Petroleum Microbiology, Analytical and Pharmaceutical Microbiology. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, including titles indexed in Scopus, Nature and Springer, spanning his core research interests of antimicrobial resistance, metagenomics, microbial ecology, water quality, wastewater surveillance and HIV infection, and has participated in more than 50 international conferences.
His professional distinctions include Fellow of the Institute of Oil and Gas Research and Hydrocarbon Studies (FIOGR), Distinguished Fellow of the African Institute of Public Administration, Ghana (DFAI), Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development (FIPMD), Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), Certified Management Consultant (CMC), and Distinguished Fellow of Medical Laboratory Science, Centro Escolar University, Manila, Philippines. He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology and the American Society for Microbiology, a member of the Board of Directors of Omeogo Oil and Gas Company Limited, and a trustee of both the Madonna International Charity Peace Award Foundation and the Edeh Onovo Foundation.
In recognition of his standing in the field, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) appointed him an Expert on the National Technical Committee for the standardisation of products manufactured or imported into Nigeria, where he also chairs the Working Group for Diagnostic Devices, Administration of Medicinal Products, and Invasive Devices. He serves as Consultant and Member of the Panel on Resource Verification and Accreditation with the National Universities Commission (NUC), and as an External Invigilator for the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) National Examination for Medical Laboratory Technicians, alongside contributions to national curriculum development for the Medical Laboratory Science MLS.D Programme.
Internationally, he has served the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU), Paris, France, as a member of its Strategic Planning Committee, Board of Rectors, and Centenary Planning Committee, and currently chairs the Planning Committee of the IFCU International Conference at Madonna University Nigeria. On August 1, 2025, he was elected to IFCU’s Board of Administration at its 28th General Assembly, held at the UNIVA Guadalajara campus, Mexico, for the 2025–2028 term, a mark of his international recognition and leadership excellence. He has also represented Madonna University and Nigeria at major global forums, including the Bill Clinton Global Initiative in New York (2015) and the Nobel Peace Prize Summit in Oslo (2016).
Professor Anagboso is married and blessed with three children. Beyond his academic and administrative achievements, he is deeply engaged in community outreach, environmental sanitation initiatives, and youth drug-abuse prevention programmes, reflecting his commitment to human development and community welfare. A man of principle, humility and discipline, he holds firmly to his Christian faith. In his leisure time, he enjoys travelling, reading, listening to music, spending time with children, and jogging, a balance that reflects his family values and continued pursuit of personal growth.
Early Life
In August 24, 1981, he was born into the family of Chief Innocent and Lolo Veronica Nkaru of Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo State, he showed early signs of the leadership and diligence that would come to define his career.
Education
Professor Anagboso began his academic journey at St. Stephen Luthren Primary School, Obudu, Cross River State, obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate in 1993. He proceeded to Government Secondary School, Obudu, Cross River State, where he obtained his Senior School Certificate in 1999. He joined Madonna University Nigeria for his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree (Hons.) in Microbiology in 2007, and thereafter completed his National Youth Service Corps assignment in Enugu State, receiving his Certificate of National Service in 2008. Driven by a passion for scholarship, he was admitted in 2012 for a Master’s programme in Environmental Microbiology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, which he completed in 2016. He proceeded immediately to doctoral studies in Environmental and Petroleum Microbiology at the same institution and was conferred with his PhD in 2021.
Professor Anagboso’s career began in 2007 as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Microbiology, Madonna University Nigeria, Elele, where he was also appointed Personal Adviser on Students’ Welfare to the Founder and Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Matthew Paul Edeh, whose conviction first drew him into service of the University. That same year, he was appointed Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor of Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu State. Between 2010 and 2015, he served as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Projects, and over the years held further leadership and management roles, including Director, Head of Department, and member of several strategic university committees, consistently demonstrating administrative excellence and visionary leadership.
Upon his return to Madonna University in 2017, he served meritoriously as Coordinator of the Madonna University Liaison Office in Europe and America, and subsequently as Director of Projects and Senior Executive Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor. He now holds the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), a role that crowns over eighteen years of dedicated service to his alma mater. As Director of Works, he supervised major infrastructural developments that reshaped the University’s academic and physical landscape, including the Faculty of Engineering at Akpugo Campus, the asphalting of the Okija Campus road, the Multipurpose and Innovation Hub (“White House”), the Silver Jubilee Arena, staff quarters bearing his name, the remodelled Medical Auditorium, a 5,000-seat International Conference Hall, solar street lighting, smart classrooms, and the Church of Jesus the Saviour. As Director of the Internationalization Office between 2021 and 2025, he led Madonna University in signing Memoranda of Understanding with fifteen universities across five continents.
He has also been instrumental in the accreditation and quota expansion of the University’s professional health programmes, Medicine and Surgery, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, and Nursing, helping to make Madonna University the institution with the highest quota across all professional health courses in Nigeria. He championed the establishment of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre and secured Senate and Governing Council approval for the University’s Directorate of Alumni Affairs.
